Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb boneless skinless chicken thighs, cut into pieces
  • 3/4 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp grated ginger
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 can crushed tomatoes
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro

Instructions

  • Combine the chicken, yogurt, lemon juice, 1 tsp garam masala, cumin, paprika, turmeric, and salt.
  • Marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  • Heat 1 tbsp oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Cook the chicken until browned, then transfer to a plate.
  • Add the remaining oil and cook the onion for 4-5 minutes.
  • Add the garlic, ginger, tomato paste, and remaining garam masala.
  • Cook for 1 minute.
  • Stir in the crushed tomatoes and simmer for 10 minutes.
  • Add the cream and return the chicken to the skillet.
  • Simmer for 10-12 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through.
  • Top with cilantro.
